Hunan Provincial Department is a part of People’s Government of Hunan. It manages provincial culture and art affairs.

The total official authorized staff of Hunan Provincial Department of Culture is 37.Among them, there is one minister, four deputy ministers, and a head of disciplinary inspection group. The department consists of six functional sections: office, finance planning and industry bureau, art bureau, social culture bureau, cultural market and movie bureau, personnel education bureau. Besides these, according to concerned prescription, it also establishes other organizations: official party committee, disciplinary inspection group, old staff office, official rear-service center. 

Main Functions and Responsibilities of Hunan Provincial Department of Culture 

To implement routes, guidelines, policies, laws and regulations concerning party and national culture and art affairs, lay down and supervise the execution of policies and regulations of provincial culture and art. To draw up development strategies and programs of provincial culture, and coordinate the proportion of culture development, advise provincial culture system reformation. To manage provincial literature, art affairs, and to advise art creation and production, support emphatically these representative, demonstrable and experimental culture and art series. To advance the development of all kinds of art, manage professionally provincial important cultural activities. To set out programs and policies of provincial art, advise and coordinate culture industry development, and to overall manage funds of culture and cultural relic, plan and advise constructions of important cultural facilities. To manage professionally provincial cultural market, draw up and execute development programs of provincial social culture, and advise the inspection of provincial cultural market. To administrate provincial social culture, and set out and execute development programs. To advise construction and development of all kinds of social culture, manage provincial libraries. To manage provincial movie issue and projection, and set out and execute development programs of provincial issue and projection. To manage provincial cultural science and technology, manage professionally the development of cultural communication of foreign countries, Hong kong, Macao and Taiwan. To lay out the development programs and policies, advance the improvement of cultural science and technology and the development of cultural communication of foreign countries, Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan. In accordance with prescriptions of provincial people’s government, to manage Hunan provincial bureau of cultural relic.
