Functions and Responsibilities

1. To implement the policies, guidelines and laws, regulations about religious affairs, draft out the local rules and policies concerning religious affairs, organize to execute and supervise its implementation.

2. To investigate the current religious situations inside and outside Hunan province, recognize and forecast the trends, study the religious theories, propose policies and lay down relative documents with policy-effect in the department.

3. To protect the religious and faith freedom of the citizen, protect the legal rights of the religious communion and religious sites, protect the religious priest staff to implement their normal religious activities and protect the normal religious activities.

4. To perform administration and supervision to the implementation of religious laws, regulations and policies, perform the religious administrative enforcement, direct and push the religious activities happen within the scope of laws, regulations and policies, protect and forbidden the illegal activities taking advantage of religions.

5. To enhance the self-education of the religious people for patriotism, socialism, keeping a united country and united nationalities, consolidate and develop the patriotism with religious people.

6. To direct and help communion's fostering and education of its religion prist staff , to consummate religion academies, and to accomplish self-construction; to handle communion's affairs which need the support or correspondence of the government; and to manage provincial patriot communion ,together with the concerning departments.

7.To manage and guide the political business training of provincial cadres in charge of religion affairs, and to take charge of the political ideological education of the backbone religion prist staffs.

8. to guide works of the municipal and district people's government of religion affairs, and to support the municipal and district people's government and concerning department in the emergencies and in religion field and the problem causing instability to society.

9. To organize and guide the propaganda and education of the religion policies and laws, and to support concerning departments in censoring articles, materials, books and audio and video products relating to religion policies.

10. To support and assist the religious people to develop the friendly tie with Hongkong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan area

11 To advise the registration, annual audit to the religious activity sites, confirmation and recording to the religious priest staffs, and to perform the review to provincial annual audit to religious communion, the registration and annual audit to the key religious activity sites above the provincial level.

12. To undertake other affairs demanded by provincial Party committee or provincial people's government.
