Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju expressed in Beijing on Monday his welcome to more British investment, especially in the development of China's western region and the rejuvenation of the old industrial bases in northeast China.

Huang made the remarks at a meeting with British Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt, who is visiting China as guest of Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

There is a good momentum for the growth of Sino-British ties and bilateral economic and trade relations have been developing smoothly, Huang said, noting that the Chinese side attaches importance to its ties with Britain and is ready to make joint efforts with the British side to push forward all-round, bilateral strategic partnership.

Meanwhile, he voiced satisfaction with bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, hoping that the two sides will continue to create a better environment for the balanced development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Hewitt said the British side is satisfied with the in-depth growth of bilateral political, economic and trade relations, hoping that both sides will further collaborate in such fields as finance and environmental protection.
