Northwest China's Qinghai Oilfield aims at 4.85 million tons of annual oil and gas output in 2006 and 10 million tons by 2010, said Huang Ligong, general manager of the oilfield.
"We'll intensify our efforts and strive to find more quality oil and gas reserves in the Qaidam Basin," said Huang during the ongoing session of the National People's Congress, the national legislature.
Qaidam Basin constitutes the bulk of Qinghai Oilfield. At the end of 2004, proven oil reserves in the basin amounted to 400 million tons, and proven natural gas reserves were 400.5 billion cubic meters.
