Xinjiang tourism sees rapid development

Journalists learned from Xinjiang Tourism Bureau that, Xinjiang tourism sees rapid development in the first half of 2006. From January to June, Xinjiang has totally received more than 120,000 men/times of overseas tourists, with tourist income of US$43.41 million, and 7.12 million men/times of domestic tourists, with the tourist income of 5.885 bln RMB.

According to the analysis, various kinds of activities including Turpan Grape Festival, South Xinjiang Int'l Tourist Festival, Fuhai Tourist Festival, Tacheng Aken Singing Contest, have attracted lots of overseas and domestic tourists. It is the main reason for the tourism development in the first half of this year.

At the same time, the hotel development of Xinjiang greatly promotes the rapid development of the tourism. At present, the number of high-star hotels in Xinjiang ranks the 10th in the whole country, and 8 of them are 5-star hotels.

Besides, the travel services of Xinjiang also see prosperous development. This year, two of the travel agents in Xinjiang are listed in the National Top 100 Travel Services, and Xinjiang Western Region International Travel Service ranks the Top 20th.
