Chinese Culture Journey held by Confucius Institute at the University of Lisbon, Portugal Thursday, September 24, 2009

A ten-day "Chinese culture journey" was held by the Confucius Institute at the University of Lisbon. Two groups, consisting of eighty visitors in total, arrived in Beijing between August 22nd and September 2nd.

The Chinese partner university, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, was the first stop for the trip. Xiu Gang, President of Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Chen Fachun, Deputy President of the university, met with the visitors. Chuo Jingzhong, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at the University of lisbonof Lisbon, and another two Chinese teachers, Wang Jiangmei and Wang Jincheng, were amongst the greeting party.

Visitors also went on cultural tours of Beijing and Xi’an. They were impressed by the great changes that have happened in China during the past 60 years. Prof. António de Sampaio da Nóvoa, Rector of the University of Lisbon, wrote a letter expressing his appreciation of the efforts of Tianjin Foreign Studies University. The two universities are looking forward to furthering their cooperation in building the Confucius Institute.
